The hardest thing when you are “in love” is to see the person clearly, right? We see what we want to see—what we fall in love with, which is the essence of the person. If your love lives in, and to their essence, you are in good shape and don’t need to read this article. If you are having doubts or have a pattern of picking what we call “losers,” which means people that don’t match up or have the same values, ideals, hopes and consciousness as you do, here are some relationship advice I, and others, have found easy and great markers to take a look at.

Here are some relationship advice you just might want to follow when making a commitment to and with someone. It doesn’t matter if it is a marriage or a moving-in-together. Yes, one is easier to get out of, but the longer you live together, the more entwined your lives become.

  1. Check out and listen to what the people you love around you think and feel about the person you are thinking of being with. Listen even if you don’t want to or think you need to.
  2. If the person you have chosen treats you nicely and everyone else badly, he or she will treat you the same way in time.
  3. If he/she treats you badly but always feels bad and makes it up to you, this will continue and quite possibly get much worse with added stressors.
  4. Do you want this person to be the mother/father of your children even if you think you don’t want any?
  5. Is this person kind and gives back to the community? Any community?
  6. Are you both open to change? Change is essential to a thriving relationship. Have you witnessed this capacity during your relationship thus far?
  7. At times you may need outside advice. Don’t hesitate to find help; there are people specifically trained to solve a couple’s problems. Are they open to this? Find out now.
  8. Don’t think I even need to say , but will. If your Potential Partner is addicted to anything—drugs, alcohol, sex, negativity, gambling—then addiction will come first. You are not the cure! You are not the cure!

Does he yell at you? Is she always freaking out? Does your partner always have to have it his or her way? These are just a few relationship advice I can give and I could go on and on about the road signs. But I want to tackle a key issue in every relationship.

In my Book The Slice of the Beloved the first quarter of the book is about YOU—your relationships with yourself, which comes first. This is an important relationship advice to take in and that is how important I feel this is. It’s about YOU. How do you take care of you? How do you de-stress yourself? Do you do the things you love? Do you exercise? Do you take time for you? Do you value you? Do you meditate? If you don’t value and take care of YOU, then you cannot expect that the other person is going to do this or that for you. It is 100% guaranteed that this will NOT happen.

We sometimes think or wish we were in a relationship for security or so someone will truly love us. I know women and I’m sure there are men (I just don’t know them), who have also “traded up” for security. One of these women told me, “They give you their black American express card to do as you want with.” The price you pay is you ask no questions about what they do in any aspect of their lives.” This is an arrangement and it has a name, and that name is not good or great for a relationship. “Relationship” means you relate hopefully in deep ways. Remember that how you see YOU and how you treat YOU is how others will treat you. Value YOU. Do things that build that value. Choose YOU; feed yourself first so you have what it takes to give to others. Remember, on planes they say, “The oxygen mask will drop down. First put your mask on and then put the put the mask on any children traveling with you.” That safety rule holds in life. Oh, and that’s not just for the children in your life.

  • Feed yourself meditation so you can see.
  • Feed yourself good food so your moods stay even and you feel good.
  • Feed yourself the right to do the things you love on a regular basis. It will make you more loving.
  • Feed yourself exercise so you have the strength to do what needs to be done.

Do all this with love and you will cultivate the grace necessary to relate from your heart. Exhaustion closes your heart and never helps with communication or connection. Be the lover. Breathe life into your life so you have it to breathe into and see what is right for all involved.

“Don’t sell yourself short; you deserve the best.” This relationship advice will help you truly feed you.

You deserve to get your essence back in bright and powerful, love. Deserve, then desire. If you desire first, you may not get what you truly deserve. Clear your intuitive centers so you can be receptive to what is—not what you want or hope it can, or will be. When things are what you want them to be, say yes, yes, yes. You have a platform to build from.

Do you know? I didn’t either, though I’m a Kundalini Yoga teacher, till I realized that my mission in life was to make everyone their own yoga energy guru. What does that mean. Okay this is the story. I realized after years of teaching people how to have better lives with Kundalini Yoga, meditation, diet, community etc., that we know so much about so many things but we don’t have a clue about us. We know about changing our clothes, our sheets, taking care of our cars and our homes but we don’t know how to take care of our rented home called our body.

What you know even less about is how to adjust your minds or your emotions. Can’t tell you how many thousands of times I have heard, “I just can’t shut off my mind, Can you help me with that?” I kept hearing these pleas everywhere I went—that and “Oh, my God. I need to get up from my desk during the day but there is so much to do. I don’t even drink water because I don’t want to have to go to the bathroom.” It’s the just one more thing complex. Then at the end of the day our minds are toast and our bodies are twisted and in pain, or emotions frayed and we aren’t bringing our best self home or anywhere else.

I said to myself there has to be a way that I can take all I have learned as a yoga energy guru and share it with others in a useful way. What people also kept telling me was, “I just don’t have the time to do that (whatever I suggested) it will take too much time. So I needed to make something that could be done in the office, or in the car or in the bathroom AND have a big bang for the 1-3 minutes I was asking them to invest. I can do this, I thought, and I did. I created these wonderful flip charts with 18 exercises that you can do all day long to reclaim your energy.

Claw Dance: Two steps for radiant, charismatic energy

Round and tighten fingers in long-clawed-like hands.

Come up tall on your toes swinging the arms out to the sides and up over the head in a big arc motion.  Breath in on the way up while saying “WHO”. Next, squat down while the arms are swinging downward in a big arc. Exhale saying “LA” on the way down. Keep repeating these 2 steps.

Round up and tighten fingers to mimic long claws.

Starting tall on tip toes, swing the arms up over the head in a big arc motion. Inhale on the way up while saying “WHO”. Exhale saying “LA” while squatting down and swinging the arms down in a big arc.

Keep repeating these 2 steps.

1-2 minutes

Strengthens thighs and increases energy. Replenishes your energy field and expands awareness. Helps clears the mind when facing challenges.

 

Release

Pounding Har: Beat anger and clear cobwebs

Sit on heels on a mat, or at your desk if the room is sound proof.

Powerfully and rapidly beat the floor or desk surface with palm of hands while saying “HAR” with each pounding. Make the sounds from deep within the abdomen. For added benefit, pump lightly by pulling the navel in toward the spine with each “HAR”.

2-3 minutes

Gift:

Helps release anger and frustration. Uses sounds and powerful motion to clear “debris” and stimulates all the nerve endings in the hands.

Many people have asked: What is Chakra? Even when they already have the answer, they often associate the word with the Third Chakra or the Solar Plexus Chakra which rules the entire abdominal area and is also called the solar center. It requires the sun or sunlight to activate it. In other words, the color yellow. What do we say when someone is afraid or we want them to do something truly crazy? “You are just yellow belly.”

When I think of yellow, I think of sunlight, dancing, daffodils, sunflowers, chiffon, my favorite doll dress, fields of wild flowers, lemons, golden berries, eggs sitting in their white dresses, and dancing skirts of yellow swirls. Yellow may be a power color, a primary color, but it is also the “power of happiness” color. It is the “wake up” color, the burst-forth-with-energy color—your navel and mine.

Yellow is there to uplift and give you Energy with a big E. It is bright and alive; it wants to dance with you. It wants you to get out and dance with life. When you want to be in your power and be able to empower others, then it is the time to…

  1. Paint a wall in your living space yellow and see what happens.
  2. Wear a yellow blouse, tie, scarf or, yes, even a skirt, and see what happens to you and your day.
  3. Get a Yellow Chakra Pillow

Yellow will not let you sit still but it will make you delightfully happy at the core of your being through the Solar Plexus Chakra.

Look at the things that are yellow in your life; your surroundings. How do you feel around them? What do they tell you? What do they give you? When we say someone is yellow, it is not a compliment. It means you are a coward; you live in fear. But here is Yellow as a color that is actually an antidote for your fear. Let me know that you have made friends with this meditation, meaning you must do it for 40 days and then tell me if it works. Just 11 minutes for starters and don’t be afraid of this commitment. The Moon Centers Can Turn a Woman's Life AroundMoon Centers.  Let’s face it, many women have out-of-control emotions—huge emotional swings that they often blame on PMS, SMS, MPS—whatever! Some people would say it’s easier to just let the emotions rule. Wrong. As a woman, I’m sure that you’d welcome knowing that there are ways other than prescription drugs, to deal with your emotions—how to get them to work for you instead of the other way around—being a slave to them. I’m sure you agree.

If you go on a blind date then, you won’t feel interest for the other person. You will sit there wishing to be at home curled up on the sofa watching your favorite movie for the tenth time or at Nina’s pajamas party.

The Moon Centers gave me the power of choice. Knowing which Center my energy was in and in which of the three states I was in (positive, neutral, or challenged), saved me from a lot of drama and trauma, as I like to say. I knew why I felt this or that way, and I knew how to make the most of it. I didn’t need to change or hide the emotions once I understood them. It was exhilarating! I wasn’t crazy. He was also impressed by the fact that I was 63 and looked amazing (as others say) and feel great (see my pictures at www.gurutej.com). I can do handstands, headstands, rollerblade hills, and much more. I also have a very clear, concise, and productive mind. I imagine if I had looked haggard and spent, he would not have been as impressed with the 35 years I spent getting only 3-4 hours of sleep each night.

Don’t let this scare you. I’m not asking you to do that. I was part of a consciousness experiment in the 70s.
