Blog Medication, mediation or meditation

We all need something to “take the edge off”. How does that edge get on there in the first place? By life not going the way, at the pace or peace we want or expect.

We choose our tools either consciously or by abdication. By abdication I mean it’s just there so we do it or we have always done it that way, or we like the way we feel at least temporarily when we do it. All good. I’m not into good and bad but I am into effective and ineffective. There is short and long term effective. If something takes the edge off we are greatful but if like so many medical commercials on TV you are warned of the side effects, the long range effect would you still want to do what you do to release stress.

In steps meditation in all her glory, She makes us uncomfortable just speaking of her. Yet she has so many sides or external packagings that
you can choose something that you feel comfortable with initially. I say initially because if you do commit to a meditation practice you will have many less than comfortable situations while meditating and many more that are great.

Meditation is a great source of clearing the subconscious mind. Think of going down into your basement where no one has been except to leave stuff
and you get to clean it. This is your gear, your storage container and you have a chance to clean it up. Really very exciting when you think about it this way. The first few times may be really lovely or really challenging the great thing is the saying yes to the journey. The willingness to really practice something that you know you want the end result but may not love the initial process. Practicing anything or learning any new skill is always challenging and uncomfortable till it starts to become easy then I have good news for you; you will come to love it.

I had someone come to look at a rental property I have the other day and she started our meeting I mean initial words with “ I know I look really bad I’m not awake yet.” It went down hill from there. It ended with her saying over and over again, ‘I’m such a mess and you are so calm. Your calm makes me realize what a mess I am.” I said to her, “Okay now that you have had that realization the only real question is what are you going to do about this state you feel you are in.” She did not answer. Maybe she will sit with it maybe she won’t that is up to her. I just had to open the door to the possibility that she would, could ask what she would rather feel like and to allow ways to come to her to create that.

Meditation does not work in one session or maybe even 100 or 1000 yet each meditation session works. It works on your desire to be able to reclaim your life, the true essence of you to be deeply connected with that sensation that you truly know. Yes you become calm because you know that you are not the doer and yet there are many actions to take. The calmer you are the more you know which one is correct for this moment. You neither under react nor overreact. My teacher Yogi Bhajan used to yell like a crazy man. At first we were all freaked out especially if he called us in class and started in on us. Then we got to understand if you were in the room the message was for you he just chose someone who could handle the blast. I started this exercise that just came to me of sitting in his heart when he would go into yelling mode and you know what it was totally calm and serene in there not at all like the gale force winds that were whipping around outside.

I learned that what goes on in the inside is not what is happening on the outside of most situations. You all know this. You act one way and feel something totally else yet that is not what was happening with him. He was acting in a way to be effective and blow a situation apart but he was not emotionally involved with the situation at all. That is one of the many perks of a meditative mind. You won’t lose you energy to all the situations of life.
When you get emotionally engaged in a situation you lose so much energy spinning it around. It doesn’t matter if it is anger, jealousy, fear, guilt you name it you give yourself to that feeling and the story that goes with it and you are off and running with the lose of energy. Afterwards we say, “I feel drained.” We think it is the situation but truly it is our reaction to the situation.

So how to not lose our energy or recover it quickly? This one is easy Sit in an easy sitting position for you with spine straight and On the Exhale chant MAAAAA for as long as you can and then inhale deeply down to your toes and do it again for at least 11 minutes. Then take a couple of deep breaths and check in and see how you feel.

You are now officially meditating. Fall in love it helps the experience become deeper.

Is Meditation serving you? Do you want it to be/

How do you recover from a day that blows up in your face? There is even a question before that. How do you start your day? If you don’t start your day with some sort of connection with the self then you are in for a great treat. Meditation is the leading edge. All great people know the absolute necessity of taking quite time. Call it vision time, call it meditation, call is solace, call it what you want. We all need that time to connect in and revitalize the deepest part of us, our essential hueman essence. No, that is not a spelling mistake. We are all beings of light. How to bring that light to the surface and allow it to work for us that is the quandary.

Most people are frightened by the thought of sitting in silence with just themselves. What will happen? Will you find out things you don’t want to know? Will you be bored? Will it seem like forever? Will it do anything for you? And many more questions I know.

The question can and will keep you from the experience. The experience is what you want. Having the mind calm down so you can feel the knowingness that is you under the stress and strains of life’s challenges.
How many of you love the chaos of your mind? The constant chatter that you feel you can’t turn off? Okay are you ready to reach for something other than your favorite way of numbing out? Good, love the courage it takes to say yes.

I want you to start simple. Make a commitment to 40 days of 11 minutes/day and pick a time. First thing in the morning, last thing before sleep, when you need a break at 2pm you chose and then write that commitment down.

Here is what you will start with it is very easy and not so easy, remember 11 consecutive minutes. Plant yourself in a secluded spot and set a timer you can go longer but not shorter. No cheating thinking that if you meditate longer one day then you can do shorter the next day this is not roll over minutes this is a daily commitment.

The how: Now sit down on the floor, on a cushion, on the couch just keep
your spine straight. Close your eyes focus between your two eyes at your third eye. Touch your thumb to your first finger. This is called Gyan Mudra the position of wisdom Roll your tongue like a cigarette and inhale through the rolled tongue if you can’t roll the tongue practice and for now make an “O” out of our mouth and stick your tongue past the lips and inhale. This calms and collects you. On the Exhale you will chant Wa Hey Guuu Roo (Wahe Guru) for as long as you exhale. This clears the stress and gives you back your ecstasy. Do this somewhere where you feel you won’t be interrupted. If others are around whisper the Wahe Guru other wise do it out loud. Do the Mantra (sound) at a whisper in the evening to create calmness and do it out loud in the morning to create a bliss setting for your day. Just take three deep breaths in after you finish to complete it and feel yourself before jumping up. Do not believe me do it, and get the experience for yourself. It is priceless and it will make you priceless.

We need reminders. We need reminders for many things in life. I find it interesting that I have had a very good diet. Notice the had, Vegan really alkaline diet and this week I have descended into a land of sweets. I would do a steady diet of chocolate if I could. Actually my mouth would have me doing that and maybe my emotional body. Such an interesting situation because I have just been able to watch it and sometimes I give in and just eat muffins and cake for the day and then greens at nite. Not to repent but because my body needs greens after the sweet treats.

It has given me great compassion for people who seemingly can’t control their eating. I watched the whole process. Eating at my desk, having food breaks but not real breaks, too windy outside to go do my favorite exercise during the day, rollerblading. I finally rolled my yoga mat out and just did a few handstands. I needed a few things to switch the behavior when it starts going array. If you are the same way this little study of my behavior may help you.

1. When feeling less that your usual delightful self, call it what you will, from depressed to anxious or some less challenging title watch what you go for. What is your release valve? Can you watch what you do? A friend of mine told me today, “Woman are so lucky they don’t have penises.” Why because his is on a heat seeking mission. Looking for release. When you see that neutrally then you can assess what the best solution is. Find a woman, any woman, masturbate, sit with the need, exercise, and you name one.
2. When do you tend to over eat, not eat properly for you, binge? See the pattern and then work back from there. If you eat when on the phone maybe you want company to eat with. Can you arrange for that to happen? When we get neutral with ourselves we get kinder and more insiteful. This also allows us to be kinder with others.
3. Write an I am poem, song, story, Sing about you and what you know about you now not in the past nor the dead cows you are dragging with you. You will get to see your gifts, your radiance, your quirks, your delights, your irritants and more of the total you. Trust me do it. Then write your, I am not.
4. Bringing worlds together. You have to get conscious about you and know how to change your energy before you can help change the energy patterns of the world. Green means you first then and only then you will have the capacity to help make planetary shifts. How do you clear, clean and shift your energies?

Are you feeling depressed, anxious, fearful?

What do you do when you are depressed, anxious, upset?

I have great tips on how to release all these energy’s that is what I do as the Energy Guru. Now I want to recommend a partner_ just being with the feeling.

This is much harder than trying to banish it into the far reaches of our consciousness. I like the banishing the evil (ha) feeling and yet…. So much to be learned by being with the discomfort till it has had its say.

1.We don’t listen to others we just sorta pay lip service while we multitask.

2. We also don’t listen to ourselves deeply.

3. We know how to keep ourselves caffeineated, busy, and overwhelmed (easy to do know with so much calling on us).

4. We know how to solve other people’s problems easily and quickly
our own a little more challenging.

I don’t suffer from depression but the last couple days have been very low energy I have felt depressed. As if I was learning something deeply uncomfortable. What depression is really like? It is not fun. I don’t think it is meant to be. It takes courage to sit and breath into it. Awaiting some sonar message. The I Ching said Natural Response yet depression doesn’t feel natural. It goes with you everywhere you go and robs you of the joys of life. Yet all robbers have a motive. Some to make themselves wealthy, some to survive, some to see if they can really do it and on… What is your current robber saying to you?
Be it depression, anxiety, overwhelm, lack of support etc.

1. Sit with a note pad and take notes from it. It could be a great teacher.
2. Breath into it and give it more life stretch the boundaries. I love sitali breath.

Roll the tongue and stick it past your lips. If you cannot roll it, just make an “O” shape with your mouth with the tongue protruding slightly beyond the lips. Breathe in deeply through the mouth. Exhale slowly through the nose emptying the lungs all the way.

The best anti-stress breath available. The breath passing over the wet tongue creates a cooling effect.

3. Make time and space to be with this feeling.

Get in a tub, or in nature with your back against a tree or somewhere comfortable you can be for a while and invite it in as if it were a great and worthy visitor.

Remember it came to teach you something. If you can learn from it you don’t have to dull your senses to try and get away from it.

4. Learn how to be uncomfortably comfortable. It is an art. We usually make everyone around us uncomfortable with us. This is a much more quite deep stance. Be in it not of it. Becoming personally impersonal with the experience.

It doesn’t need to consume you. But running will just make it track you
down.

How can you help others if you can’t be with the hard things yourself? This age requires we teach, share uplift from having known and experienced not from some more remote learning experience. It has valuable lessons

Then you must get out and move. Move it through you. Run, rollerblade, swim, dance, swing, bike move and move it all out of your being. I recommend this at the end of the movement cycle.

Claw Dance
Two steps for radiant, charismatic energy

Round and tighten fingers in long clawed-like hands.
Come up tall on your toes swinging the arms out to the sides and up over the head in a big arc motion. Breath in on the way up while saying “WHO”. Next, squat down while the arms are swinging downward in a big arc. Exhale saying “LA” on the way down. Keep repeating these 2 steps.

Round up and tighten fingers to mimic long claws. Starting tall on tip toes, swing the arms up over the head in a big arc motion. Inhale on the way up while saying “WHO”.
Exhale saying “LA” while squatting down and swinging the arms down in a big arc.
Keep repeating these 2 steps.

1-2 minutes

Gift
Strengthens thighs and increases energy. Replenishes your energy field and expands awareness. Helps clears the mind when facing challenges.

Then Bless yourself and acknowledge that you did something truly challenging that will stand you well in many facets of your life when
troubles come a knocken which they will, wearing different outfits to see if they can make us throw a fit. Decline! Remember what you know and use it

Are you ready to die?

Are you ready to die?

Most people aren’t? Yet if we are not willing to be with death it will hunt us down. Last week I had a gigantic dose of people sitting with death. My contractor’s 10-year-old daughter with an inoperable brain tumor on the brain stem. Next a dear friend called with breast cancer, then another dear friends sister found out she had a brain tumor all within less than 24 hours. All sitting with what we are all sitting with only they are doing it consciously. Befriending death.

It is spring we put paper, dead grass, straw, soil, manure, and all dead things to make the garden grow. It is Passover; it is Good Friday it is that we must die to grow. What needs to die within you? What fear is keeping you fat, unhappy, stressed, anxious, feeling unloved, unsuccessful?

The most courageous thing we can all do is to be willing to sit in the embrace of death until death releases us, temporarily. It will reveal its message and then we are FREE to experience the message that lies under the
Fear. That is where the depth of you lives. Until we strip away the fear of fear it will dog us like the mafia. It is our inner mafia. Sneaking up behind us and shooting down plans, hopes, dreams and our capacity to love which is the most intrinsic ingredient of life.

Before you SPRING up you must lie down and die or miss this great chance
to unburden you of both personal and societal fears which are abounding. Liberation literally means your fears no longer own you. You are free.

Try sitting and just do this breath into whatever comes up. If you die great if you come back great just give yourself 22 minutes to 2 ½ hours yes hours to try this. For the really brave do it till it cracks open and leaves you whole.

What if you had to write about your I am ness of die?

What are you? What are you made of? What makes your life a gift? I am is only half of the prayer it is truly I am,I am is the vastness and the second I am is the personal grounded aspect of that vastness.

I invite you to write about you in conjunction with the world at this moment. Once you know the inner I am you can also know the relationship of you to the world. It would be nice if it worked in the reverse but that does not hold true. You have to know you first. You have to release whatever is keeping you from loving yes deeply loving you. Only then will you really know the I am. The I am gives you the connective line to flow into the essence of you and come up with some wonderful writing. A poem, a song, a story, a play, a rhyme, Just do it. Write something
to connect the dotted lines to the core of you.

This is mine meant to get your juices flowing about you.

What does the G20 have to do with you?

What does the G20 Summit have to do with your primary purpose in life?

What does that mean? It means that you get to look at how you play with others. How you see the world at large and you in it. What stories you are carrying around that may be supported by society. They may or may not make you look good but do they make you feel good?

What I mean is “What is your security agenda?” What do you Need to be okay? Do you need some person, some drug, some way of life, a certain amount of money or status? What gives you your current security? Would you like things to be different? Would you like more ease in your life?

You many not see exactly how this could be different now, especially now. So much stress and strain and yet…. this is the perfect time. The perfect time to jump off track and refuse to live in the fear factor. It is your time to find the release inside of you not grasping for the external remedy to “make it all okay.”

Mores are breaking down this is the perfect time to shift. If Michelle Obama and the Queen of England could hug and it was sanctioned after centuries upon centuries of the law that stated you could not touch the monarchs then what else could be okay at this moment in time? It is the perfect time to break the mold and go for what and how you really want to live, to give.

Can we live with less and be more? What does that mean to you? What can you give up so you can have the things you really consider luxuries? Time, fun, joy, love, energy, sleep. What is on your list so you can have a life that you are joyously inside of? A life that you awaken each day happy to get up and live your life to connect, serve, and support everyone you work with. Then allow the same to come back to you.

Do you own your life or do your habits own and direct your life? The first
geometric design gives you ease, the latter is living an addictive life based on the fear of lose. Your underlying geometric design is very important it dictates how you feel and how you react to life. The energy gurus give you
exercises that can within minutes interrupt your patterns and put you back on the track of being deeply connected to your essence where all is possible.
