Happy New Year

December 30th, 2009 — 4:35pm
Contemplation: The gift of each year end is a retrospective of what has come and what has gone. More important was how you handled what came and went. I heard this great quote the other day which I will paraphrase. Life is like a meat grinder at times and the first things to leave us at these times is joy. So armed and dangerous carrying our own Joy ball we can face any meatgrinder. I used to think when things were really challenging that I lost my sense of humor. I did. Now I make it a point to never loose my sense of humor no matter how bleak. I made my friend in Canada laugh today. She has the flue and is caring for her husband who just had quadruple bypass surgery a couple weeks ago. She was not complaining but very low energy. I told her a story and made her laugh. For that one moment she was in the bliss and she knows how to magnify that moment. So fearlessly look back and see where you have fallen short, where you really came through holding the light, where you let go and surrendered, where you held on tight. With kindness in your heart give yourself the green light to look at it all and let it be your teacher so we don’t bring what was ineffective forward with us kicking and screaming into this new start.
What’s Coming up in 2010: Such an interesting time. I invite you all to Mitra’s exceptional Chinese Astrology class on Jan 23rd 1:30 pm. This is both a 10 year and a 3 year. The year is 10 yet the entire century+decade is The 3. So the gift of the year is a 10. 10 as a gift is about being Royal allowing all to come to you and maintaining a sunny attitude to attract it. 10 is about absolute, fixed, this is the way it is unless you don’t buy that. 3 is the half Devil and Divine the destiny of the 3 year is you can see the positive side of things in a humorous and uplifting way. The three gets things done and is very determined. Just a little preview Apply it like a balm of wisdom to your own being. Use it or be used by it.
Sugar Blues remedies: Okay step back from that desert table or if you cannot say no to sugar here are some remedies.
1. Tie both hands behind your back and warn those around you that no matter how hard you beg please don’t feed me sugar. Good right?
2. You may like this more. Bring treats that aren’t made with processed sugar. You can check out the internet for vegan, raw or Sugar free and not diabetic
treats or go to Mani’s bakery on Fairfax and buy some healthy treats.
3. If it too late for the first two then Lots of b vitamins, detox tea, celery and ginger juice with other veggies, lemon and ginger juice,
4. Read Sugar Blues and get the real low down on our favorite addiction.
May this next year be a deep Blessing to all. May you be Blessed and Be the Blessing that is your destiny to all around you.

How to make all Days whole and holy

December 23rd, 2009 — 2:12pm

I was driving back from Vegas Monday morning. I will leave it to your imagination what I was doing in Vegas. Safe to say I only go there for one thing and it’s not the drinking, gambling, sex trio. What is that one thing? Hmm tell you later.

I’m driving back on the 15 and very clear traffic when all of a sudden we go from 80 mph to zero in seconds. Thank God for great breaks. I could see the stop happen so what we all knew was something probably “an accident” had happened up front. We had passed the road work signs. Only one thing it could be was “an accident”.Everyone got very calm and patient. I sent prayers and sure many others did as well. Interesting how when you know something challenging has occurred and it is out of your control we can do group Zen for a period of time.

What is “an accident”? Is it truly an accident? Who is prepared for one? This one was really bad. After 50 minutes of inching our way up saying the two cars were totaled was like saying there has been a little damage to a village that has been firebombed in Iraq. The fire engine got there 5 minutes before we did. Not sure how two cars going the same direction had a head on collision. Yet that is what it looked like. must have been a swipe and spin situation.  No one came out of this alive. These people did not plan this as part of their trip that morning. They didn’t take out accident insurance they were just going somewhere. They took a detour from where they thought they were going.

Why am I telling you this? Because each day is a gift and we need to set this foundation up each morning each moment. This foundation will allow you to live like this is the only moment there is. This of vast importance to you, to me, to us all.

We need to paln for the future and live in the now. So easy to say right but what muscles do you need to allow you to remember to be with this moment, this person, this event, this promotion. You need to start working your heart and soul muscles.

What is a good way to work those babies? Start your day, each day you are given with some meditation time, some prayer time, some time to hear your deepest inner voices with no sound drowning them out. Recharge during the day by having moments assigned to you. Put them in your written schedule. Reconnecting even if it means going to the bathroom or vanishing from your office or home to do so. It will make your a better person, a better worker, a better boss, a better partner and mother/father.

We are not at our best just pushing ahead with some distant goal of when it will be okay to breath or do whatever we want.

My daughter is in medical school and said she must yes must exercise, meditate and do yoga or she would be most unhappy and have brain freeze. I spoke with another doctor yesterday and he said the same thing that exercise was not optional in med school. It truly is not optional in life. Nor is an 11 minute meditation or even a three minute one during your day.

Try this a mere 1-3 minutes one:

Sitali Breath

Breath out that stress…

Roll the tongue and stick it past your lips. If you cannot roll it, just make an “O” shape with your mouth with the tongue protruding slightly beyond the lips. Breathe in deeply through the mouth. Exhale slowly through the nose emptying the lungs all the way.

1-2 minutes

Gift

The best anti-stress breath available. The breath passing over the wet tongue creates a cooling effect.

This one can be done anywhere including meetings: A great calm down.

Finger Tips Release

Relief for over-worked hands and brains

Hands facing, join fingertips with light pressure. Move hands in and out by bending the fingers.

A variation is to lightly tap the fingertips or move the fingertips around in very small light circles.

This last version calms the nervous system. Do it during meetings with conscious breath.

1-2 minutes

Gift

The stimulation of fingers never endings activate various glands in the brain. Helps feel more lively and relaxed.

So be available to alchemically changing your life in the moment to be present and have no regrets when “an accident” might occur. Don’t evoke accidents but being ready is always a plus.

Want to know why I was in Vegas? Stay tuned. Just kidding for CEO space great club to be part of. Ask me about it.

Blessings

This is a heart and soul grabber.

December 16th, 2009 — 7:13pm

This quote by Thomas Paine in 1791 gives you an idea of the timelessness of truth. Oh and just slightly profound. It hit my pro….found spot

“Independence is my happiness, and I view things as they are, without regard to place or person; my country is the world, and my religion is to do good”

I just wanted to sit under it and bask. To uuu and aaa a bit and turn it over like a beautiful stone. Today like most days I like you have chances to live this. Today it was even more real.

I was walking across a busy street in Beverly Hills with Dr. K after lunch and there in the middle of the street right in front of a bus was this pigeon. The pigeon was wobbling around and it’s mate flying frantically like a crazed humming bird above it trying to alert someone to please help her mate back to life and independence. Dr K scooped him, the pigeon I decided it was a hima, nd carried him gently back to the sidewalk. We decided the tree was the best place to let him go.

Immediately the pigeon started his drunken brooken walk towards the street so we brought him back. then this amazing things happened. Mr. Pigeon started throwing up big, actually the largest ones I had ever seen, kernels of corn. Corn who knew corn was lethal to pigeons? He proceeded to eject a couple more kernnels and then he could walk and seemed to need to walk to eject the rest.

At this point someone passing, we had quite the crowd in Beverly Hills watching these two people holding and stroking this pigeon, called our attention to the fact that 30 pigeons had gather on the top of a two story building to watch this entire proceeding. They were cheering their friend and mate on. At that point we knew we could leave and all was okay. It made me realize that we all need to throw something up or out. What do you need to release? Where do you feel safe to do this?

To me this proved true independence is interdependent. We are only as independent as each and everyone of us are. Yes tis true even pigeons can be out teachers. The future holds what we do to and for each other. We can sink it or create magnificence.

Someone today did a scientific experiment to check out my chakra pillows called me to show and tell me which one was best for him. This was scientific proof that the one I had told him he needed was indeed the one that balanced him most. He then asked me how I knew this. Intuition says I. “How did you develop that?” he asked. My response will probably not surprise you.” I’m a woman we have intuition and I have always know that. Also 40 years of meditation doesn’t hurt. ”

We all need intuition to know where to place our energy most effectively. We all need intuition to know who and what needs our attention now. We all need intuition to stay connected to create this future we see, want, know and long for. One where people create together, think about what they are doing and how it will impact us in 6 months and 50 years both.

What are you doing? What are your passions now? Who are you creating with?  I want to know it matters to me too.

Blessings

If you die tomorrow would this really matter

December 11th, 2009 — 9:55am

When fear creeps in during the day what to do? Fear is death in the moment. We die to our truth. We die to our knowingness. We die to our intuition. It all goes out the window. The limited self kicks in and makes us believe that it is totally telling us the truth. NOT.

This mantra is my anti fear mantra, If I died tomorrow would this really matter

It came to me years ago. I dust it off every so often when challenges come up. The things that I’m sure I didn’t order on the “this is my life menu”. It does several amazing things I want to share them with you for you.

1. I hope this makes you realize it is not always what comes to or at you it is how you handle what comes.

2. How big is your awareness? If it is only right now, in the limited edition of now, use this mantra it can stretch your horizons. If I died tomorrow would this really matter?  Use it

3. Immortality. It gets me to look at the fact that I will have a last day so will you. So today really matters.

4. What do you want to leave behind when you go? Stress bunny, fire breather,  (not to be confused with breath of fire) or amazing light. You choose with each action even in the face of fear.

5. This moment counts. If you need to be talked out of a tree call someone who can do that, go exercise, breathe or meditate NOW. Change the state. Use the tools. Interrupt the obsession.

6. Live this day with grace as if it was your last. Grace is a great vapor trail to leave behind.

7. Do you really know when you are going to die? I know we never think of death. We don’t speak about it either. How are we supposed to face the mini deaths fear brings us if we can’t acknowledge death itself? Death in relationship to you Do it! Look at and speak of death.

8. This will make you fearless. All fear is built on “it is killing us”. Right? So choose, go through deaths door and become deathless which is liberated.

Fear or fearless which means just that less fear not no fear. I’m stopping here. I could go on forever but 8 is the number of Infinity, the number of your pranic body, which is the body that holds your life force, your breath. Breathe into this mantra. Expand it till it serves you, your life so you can embrace your death fulfilled.

Life force or a forced life. Our choice each moment. This moment is yours what are you choosing and how vast is the choice.

Blessings

Our planet health mirrors our own

December 9th, 2009 — 1:58pm

There are no mistakes. as we are battling our own obesity, over taxed hearts, and an insidious disease called cancer look at our planet. It is blooted from the layers of pollution, the rivers, streams and oceans are clogged with debris like our arteries and the insidious disease of waste dumping caused by our  lack of awareness towards our planet is a monstrously huge dis-ease.

We need alkaline diets and so does the planet. What does that mean? Alkaline is soothing to our entire being. It helps us stay calmer and cleaner. Much harder to put on weight with an alkaline diet. What does that mean? in very simple terms it means eat your fruits and veggie. Make your grain choices ones you may not have heard of but now you have, Quinoa, Millet, Amarath, Buckwheat, and Long Grain Brown rice. Include nuts and beans that work for you. Seaweed yummy or you can find ways you can make it yummy. Yes simple and yet allows you to eat in almost any restaurant. Did you notice the conspicuous lack of dairy and meat? Yes it is something to move towards knowing as we are more aware of what goes into our body planet the more we can be kind and aware of how we relate with this body earth that supports us all. Take a long look at how dairy cows are raised and how meat is produced movies now out on this subject. Go see one  Super size me or ready Diet for a new America or the Omnivore’s delima

Flagrant disrespect honors no one. I had someone tell me, ” This planet can sustain at least 100 years more of just going after all the oil there is. That means drilling all the oceans we can. Drill in the antiartic. Have you ever been there there is nothing there.”This statement took my breath away. I wanted to say ” How can you be so dumb and shortsited. Don’t you know this thinking is how we got here in the first place.” I didn’t say that. I instead looked him in the eyes and said,” Why would you think that would be a good plan knowing what we know now?” Then I watched him smoke and saw what he put into his body and realized that he was willing to pollute himself why not the planet? I who love the ocean wanted to cry at just thinking of all the beaches starting to look like the countries in South America that we have plundered in the false name of progress. ozzing oil beaches.

There is no difference in how we treat ourselves and how we treat this mother who holds and upholds us. If you want her to last for your generations to follow clean up your act. Help others learn new tools to feel better with the real “good things” in life. The things that give us life. Foods with life force, actions that get our blood moving, environments that make us feel kind and calm. Service can come most easily when you feel whole and happy. Grumpy service aint service at all

Share with me your best tools for self care personal and global. Thank you for sharing your best tools.

May you have the courage to see this is a time to choose to live differently. To live better in new ways that don’t tax this mother so deeply.

Dash Depression during the holidays

December 4th, 2009 — 10:28pm

The days that are so packed with the scurry, the over obligated or the left out, no one to celebrate with. Here are 10 tips to enjoy what you have.

1. Simplify: The economy is the perfect reason to ease up. There are studies done that state most people don’t really love the gifts you bought. So gift cards for those you are buying for and lots of love for all others.

2. Caring: doing something caring and inclusive can go a long way to make people feel loved and special. Bake and invite others to help you (the Mark Twain approach) or buy some good not sugar filled cookies and share them at the office, school, etc.

3. Commitment:  Don’t over commit. Make the commitments you really want to keep. It doesn’t have to be hard. It’s about the feeling and if it’s not you need new friends and family. Go find new ones. Just kidding, sorta.

4. Hang out with the greatful  and speak it out loud about what is great in your lives. Also acknowledge the past and what came before you so you could have what you do including freedom.

5. Be the one : who S L O W S the whole thing down. Smell the snow or the trees or each other. Twitter each others hearts and see if you can just enjoy being and being together.Serve each other

5. Take breaks:  to do good things for yourself. Exercise, make great meals and share them, Meditate, go to a spa, walk in the woods or the beach by yourself or with freinds.

6. Alone: If you are alone go to places where you will be with people. If you are alone make the most of some wonderful treat time with just you. All one and alone only one letter apart.

7. Get Interactive:  be creative have fun projects to do with others or dig out the board games.  WII is fun but Scrabelicious Wow

8. Excess: Yes the sugar counts, Yes the alcohol will make you drunk and possibly stupid, yes overeating will put on the weight. Act with love towards yourself. It’s not about what everyone else is doing it’s about you.

9. Pick a service at a church or temple you have never been to and go there just for a different experience and deep connection.

10. Breathe: Just get ready for the end of the year and all that brings up. Gather and the debris of the past and create a ceremony to release it.

Bonus one. Ask yourself what you really want to get out of these Holy Days? Then do that. It is about becoming whole. That is the real celebration.

Blessings
