How to make all Days whole and holy

I was driving back from Vegas Monday morning. I will leave it to your imagination what I was doing in Vegas. Safe to say I only go there for one thing and it’s not the drinking, gambling, sex trio. What is that one thing? Hmm tell you later.

I’m driving back on the 15 and very clear traffic when all of a sudden we go from 80 mph to zero in seconds. Thank God for great breaks. I could see the stop happen so what we all knew was something probably “an accident” had happened up front. We had passed the road work signs. Only one thing it could be was “an accident”.Everyone got very calm and patient. I sent prayers and sure many others did as well. Interesting how when you know something challenging has occurred and it is out of your control we can do group Zen for a period of time.

What is “an accident”? Is it truly an accident? Who is prepared for one? This one was really bad. After 50 minutes of inching our way up saying the two cars were totaled was like saying there has been a little damage to a village that has been firebombed in Iraq. The fire engine got there 5 minutes before we did. Not sure how two cars going the same direction had a head on collision. Yet that is what it looked like. must have been a swipe and spin situation.  No one came out of this alive. These people did not plan this as part of their trip that morning. They didn’t take out accident insurance they were just going somewhere. They took a detour from where they thought they were going.

Why am I telling you this? Because each day is a gift and we need to set this foundation up each morning each moment. This foundation will allow you to live like this is the only moment there is. This of vast importance to you, to me, to us all.

We need to paln for the future and live in the now. So easy to say right but what muscles do you need to allow you to remember to be with this moment, this person, this event, this promotion. You need to start working your heart and soul muscles.

What is a good way to work those babies? Start your day, each day you are given with some meditation time, some prayer time, some time to hear your deepest inner voices with no sound drowning them out. Recharge during the day by having moments assigned to you. Put them in your written schedule. Reconnecting even if it means going to the bathroom or vanishing from your office or home to do so. It will make your a better person, a better worker, a better boss, a better partner and mother/father.

We are not at our best just pushing ahead with some distant goal of when it will be okay to breath or do whatever we want.

My daughter is in medical school and said she must yes must exercise, meditate and do yoga or she would be most unhappy and have brain freeze. I spoke with another doctor yesterday and he said the same thing that exercise was not optional in med school. It truly is not optional in life. Nor is an 11 minute meditation or even a three minute one during your day.

Try this a mere 1-3 minutes one:

Sitali Breath

Breath out that stress…

Roll the tongue and stick it past your lips. If you cannot roll it, just make an “O” shape with your mouth with the tongue protruding slightly beyond the lips. Breathe in deeply through the mouth. Exhale slowly through the nose emptying the lungs all the way.

1-2 minutes

Gift

The best anti-stress breath available. The breath passing over the wet tongue creates a cooling effect.

This one can be done anywhere including meetings: A great calm down.

Finger Tips Release

Relief for over-worked hands and brains

Hands facing, join fingertips with light pressure. Move hands in and out by bending the fingers.

A variation is to lightly tap the fingertips or move the fingertips around in very small light circles.

This last version calms the nervous system. Do it during meetings with conscious breath.

1-2 minutes

Gift

The stimulation of fingers never endings activate various glands in the brain. Helps feel more lively and relaxed.

So be available to alchemically changing your life in the moment to be present and have no regrets when “an accident” might occur. Don’t evoke accidents but being ready is always a plus.

Want to know why I was in Vegas? Stay tuned. Just kidding for CEO space great club to be part of. Ask me about it.

Blessings
