I alos got to go help my wonderful daughter move. She has never asked me to help her with anything like that since she was 12 she is now 33 and in medical school. She wanted me to come help her decorate since I do have a good way with spaces. At least I think so and interestingly enough so does she which had never been shared before now.
So after a few days at Solstices I went to Phoenix and had the blessing of being with my daughter with a mission. She was not only moving but on a cleanse. She had been in the peace corps and had Denge fever 3 times on lots fo antibotics and then super duper parasite cleanse after her return not the health food type we did try that and it wasn’t strong enough for what she had. So that had been years ago and she knew it was time. She was taking the summer off and decided to do the cleanse oh and move at the same time. God is she my daughter or what. How much can you pack into one situation. I got to cook and make liver flush and clean veggies for her. She did all the juicing. The first day we actually napped briefly and then got nails done and hiked 113 at 7pm Wahe Guru hot, equal sweating opportunity for everyone. Extra cleanse benefits.
The next day after our cleanse food, which is my usual diet at least on the days she was on when I was there, we were off to shop. She has a studio apt. She was moving to a third floor studio so she wanted to enclose the really large balcony and make it into a meditation/entertainment space. We had fun going from Home depot, to Kmart, to Target, Bed Bath and Beyond back to Kmart, and World Imports and of course Ross twice. We found good things and then found better things.
She had been given this Futon frame which we tried to work with finding outdoor cushions that would work with it and not cost a fortune. We finally just chucked the futon frame and changed course. Kinda like life if it ain’t working got to try something else. We did and in one place found super inexpensive chairs and a really sweet inlaid table all for about the price of one cushion.
It was a wonderful way to spend time with my daughter. The next day we got to pack and haul. Across the quad and up three flights of stairs. She did have others helping with the hauling. Really an honor to have your child let you go through their stuff and pack it . I swore I would not haul but landed up doing it anyway. no not because she asked just because I am after all, the mother. Mothers just do for their children doesn’t really matter what age does it? We just want to help them in whatever the situation.
Then I got a quick tour of her campus and got a peak into her life and what was offered there. I was most impressed with the 24 hr. library when she told me that some kids never went to class they just studied on their own, others would sometimes go but would not get up till noon and study till 2 or 4 am. Still others put together bikes and studied the nite before the test. We all do it differently and they allowed and gave space to and for that. I loved the realization that we don’t all need the same things. Knowing what you need and working with it is just plane smart. Allowing for help in the areas you may not be as gifted in is also truly smart. Thus why I have a brilliant Assistant.
Then off to meditate at the SRF shrine before going to the airport. It was an overnite flight for me because I decided who in their right mind wants to fly all nite there will be lots of room on this flight. Wrong LOTS of people seem to love overnite flights. I was not one of them but greatful to make the flight and not spend more hours in the Phoenix Airport.
