Packing List for Peru
For the most part, Cusco is dry year round except for the rainy season occurring in December, January, February, and March. The sun is very strong due to the close proximity to the equator and high elevation. On sunny days, expect to wear shorts and t-shirts. Once the sun goes down, it cools off considerably getting into the 40s. Also, the dress in and around Cusco is casual, so sports coats are not necessary.
Suggested items:
-Daypack: while we are traveling during the day, it is helpful to have a pack hand with raingear, an extra layer, camera, and anything else you may need during the day, as your larger luggage may be packed away or in the hotel.
Clothing:
Shirts: Both long and short sleeved. Synthetic shirts tend to dry easier and are more breathable.
Jacket: Something warm and comfortable for the nights. Fleece or Down work great!
Trousers: Synthetic pants are great for walking around, shorts for the hot days, style points will be awarded for zipper pants/shorts. Fleece pants might come in handy in the nights as well.
Headwear: Sun hat with wide brim, similar to Gilligan’s. Bandanna-helps to keep sun off neck.
Foul Weather Gear: Gore-Tex rain/wind parka and pants.
Footwear: Comfortable shoes to wear around town. Hiking boots for hiking in and around Manchu Picchu.
Other Clothing Items: Socks, underwear, and casual clothes for dinner.
Travel Accessories:
Nalgene water bottle | Toiletry Kit | Moisturizing Lotion | Sunglasses | Sunscreen and Lip protection | Purell hand sanitizer/towelettes | Money belt or pouch | Medications/extra set of glasses/contacts
