All my artwork except the heart series and those with ink and paint are made with recycled materials old calendars, wallpaper books, posters, leaves I have picked up and pressed, and many other found objects.

I have been an artist all my life. Writing books or poetry or doing some form of visual art from watercolors to Japanese Ink painting called sumi-e, to my real love of Mixed Media. Where I get to mix all those mediums and more.

As a prolific writer, world teacher, and visual artist I have written 5 popular books. These include: A Slice of the Beloved: Connection for Relationships, The Moon She Rocks You: Revealing the Secrets of Women’s Inner Emotions, The 13th Month: How to Get an Extra 29 Days Each Year, Empower Your Essence, and the Art of Energy. I also developed an online academy called Empowered Energy Academy to support people on their Empowerment Journey.

My art has evolved from taking classes in college which I must say, I was terrible, I overthought it. Then I modeled for art classes and many artists from photographers to oil painters. This was a great time for me to learn how to get out of my own way. I was modeling nude and had a chance to both watch and meditate. Bringing my meditative mind to my current art process.

I became the head of a spiritual community where we slept 4 hrs/night. Sometimes I just had to steal one of those precious hrs and create some art. Pressing flowers and making cards was something I could squeeze in.

When I moved to LA and took classes from Watercolor to Sumi-e, to mix media and I loved them all. I took Sumi-e for 3 years. Year 1 wasn’t bad year 2 was terrible I got into my head and judgey about it. Thank god there was a year three to relax and allow it to flow. Then mixed media and our teacher encouraged us to frame some of our best work. That took me to another level of appreciation for my creations.

I did an art show with a dear friend and sold 4 pieces which was very rewarding. Recently I have shown my art at Azziza’s art gallery in a group show, an art show in Camerillo for Valentines day, And was part of a group show called the Art of Resilience at Plumber park in May 2025. Then I chose to show my art to my yoga students. They all bought pieces which further encouraged me to proceed.

I did both my heart series and my WE BE ME series from 2004-2015 but I was far more busy writing books and creating online programs during this time. The gift of the pandemic for me was it cleared my usual hectic travel/teaching schedule and I got to allow my art to take center stage. I feel this was the time I truly was able to blossom and wow people with my mixed-media art. More recently I have moved into Acrylics and am loving that medium as well.

Please check out my series as well. More to come I trust.

Thank you for sitting with it for a moment or two and knowing if one needs to come home with you, love.

Blessings,

Gurutej
