Is There Such a Thing As a Fun Yoga Pose?
There are yoga poses that look fun. I call these party poses because they’re fun to show off at parties. They are also good for you and are usually the ones others can’t or won’t do, right? Then, there are the ones that are fun only when they are over. Don’t think I need to elaborate on those—the ones you hate to do but after doing them, you feel great. Then there are the ones I call the Energy Guru poses that give you energy on the spot—the ones that make life fun.
Getting stuck in some dark, angry, depressed or anxious state is not fun. What can change your state of mind, heart and being into a more open powerful state is fun. Think about this if you knew you could invest 2-3 minutes and make $1000s. Would you do it? If you thought that if you invested 1-3 minutes in you because you could change your energy state from depleted or reactive, to energized and clear, would you make that investment? I hope you are smart enough to say, yes, to that one so here is your chance. A gift of a fun yoga pose and exercise.
You can continue to read this even if you have done something similar or are familiar with it already (there really is more than one). This fun yoga pose or exercise will not be meaningful unless you have invested 1-3 minutes in you. Fun to me is something most of us have not been taught. We know how to manipulate numbers, i.e., the stock market; we know how to manipulate others; we know how to manipulate the pollution in the environment, but we don’t know how to manipulate our own energy except with pills or cheap energy drinks. Fun is knowing that you are not a slave to your emotions. Fun is knowing that energy is energy and you are an alchemist of your own domain. You have the power to change your own states at will without trashing yourself. You now have the power to know that you can go from glum to fun at your will. That is true power. Those who can’t control their own energetic states are always be looking outside for ways to get more. The so-called energy drinks literally kill your adrenals, taxes your heart and who knows what else. It is agreed that they are not good for you.
Okay, I want to give you another majical exercise so you know that the last one wasn’t just a fluke. For all non-believers and those who want more, here is another exercise. This one is to get you over taking yourself so seriously. Oh, just so you know, no one looks good when doing this, so go somewhere you won’t be seen, or even better, get others to do it with you.
Here’s how to do it. Inhale in 4 equal parts through your mouth starting from as low in your diaphragm as you can (NOTE: when stressed, your diaphragm will be tight and it will be hard to breathe deeply), then exhale by sticking your tongue out as far as you can and opening your eyes as wide as you can. For extra effectiveness, do this with someone you love, or hate, or in-front of a mirror. If this doesn’t make you laugh at yourself and life, you are dead. It is called Dragon Breath and it is for getting rid of the anger and the dragons we carry around that are eating us from the inside. Opening your eyes this wide will give you another gift, which we will speak of later. For now, do it and then let me know how it works for you. Do this in the middle of a fight, maybe, but not with your boss. You aren’t fighting with him/her anyway right? Let me know what happens to the fighting energy. It is majical and very fun.
