In the last blog (read if you haven’t yet), I spoke of what we do to stress, hinder, and destroy, our wonderful nervous system which is also our vibratory system. We can only vibrate at the level of our nervous system. If our nervous system is challenged (super challenged), wrecked (destroyed), we vibrate on a very basic survival level of panic and fear. The more whole, calm, and free our nervous system is, the more effective we are. I am going over a list of 7 of the top things you can do for you that will give your priceless nervous system the tune up it deserves.

1. Chant, pray, sing uplifting songs. Your nervous system is a frequency system and it responds to sound. Speak lovingly; be around people who are aware of their words. Then have fun chanting for you are calling on the Divine in all.

2. Eat live foods. Eat as much green (in color) as possible. Celery is the best nervous system food as well as ginger. Their strings are just like your nerves. The chlorophyll and the calcium in the greens will sooth your nervous system. They are the very best (yes, better than milk and dairy by far), and they far exceed the calcium of dairy. Calcium is soothing to the nerves. Live food shares its life with you.

3. How you eat matters. Take the time to sit and be with your food. Let it truly feed you. Eat in silence when possible, absorbing the connection with your food. Here’s a bonus: You will know when you are full if you eat this way.

4. Exercise whether you feel like it or not. Yoga is best because it will connect you to yourself and give you space to be gracefully connected to others. In Kundalini Yoga, there are great nervous system sets.

5. Meditate. It is the single best thing you can do to calm your mind and nerves. When your mind is agitated, it takes its toll on your nervous system because it causes stressors to be released. When you are stressed, your glands release hormones like cortisol from the adrenals that your nerves experience as red alert signals or a call to action—the action of saving you from some serious situation.

6. Drink lots of alkaline water. Alkaline water makes the body and your nerves go, ahhh. Acid systems put it on alert. That is, it needs to try and bring you back to a more alkaline state.

7. Breathe. Take breath breaks. To get over stressors, don’t think long deep breaths; think Break Breath. Breathe in through the mouth or nose in sips. Use the4-Part Breath or Dragon Breath.

If your nerves are frazzled, so are you. If your nervous system is long and cool, then so are you. You are a reflection of your nervous system. Your nerves have quite enough natural daily stressors from finances, to children, to jobs, to friends, to family, to internal situations you are wrestling with, to what you think should be happening (and the gap between that and what is happening); so many things—each and every day—to deal with. When you do all or at least some of the 7 suggestions, you will find you are more able to deal with the stressors that come your way because you are not adding to them. You should be working with your nervous system; not be at odds with it, causing more stress.

You have the opportunity to have a great nervous system. Come to class next month; we are focusing on the nervous system. I will have a DVD out soon for the nervous system. Detox Clearing: The Undoing of the Clog

Funny how something small can trigger amazing results. Some little misplaced letter or quotient can shift the way we see or think of things. I am a truly horrid or creative speller depending on how you think of misspelled words. One teacher in high school told me I was an amazing writer but couldn’t spell dog the same way twice. I shrugged and thought why it seemed so boring to do so. Didn’t people know what you meant? Wasn’t it more interesting to have to stretch a little to unravel the word? It let the sentence sink in a little more deeply. So when I was spelling “blog” today, “clog” came out and I knew there was a message for me in there. What is clogged in our lives, in your life right now, is what keeps things from running well. It keeps things stuck. Have you looked at your plumbing, both figuratively and physically, in any detail recently?

If your plumbing in your home is backed up, we don’t wait days or weeks or months to call a plumber. We are right on it as needed. Yet when our own internal plumbing gets backed up we can go for days without evacuating and think little of it. We can go around with the same small stale thoughts that keep us constricted and not only hang on to them but defend them with our lives.

That is why we have a teacher. That is why we have a chance to seek the wisdom of someone who can see us more clearly than we can see ourselves. That is why we seek out a great detox program. Detoxing the body will help detox the mind but there is nothing like detoxing the body, the mind and the soul altogether. This is always the Spiritual path—to let go of the past that we have so identified with so we can embrace the Divine naked, alive and holding no separateness. The I am-ness comes when we are clear, not congested. So the question now is: What are you doing to clear out?

Several points you can easily do.

  1. Pick one room, then one place in the room and start clearing and cleaning it—a desk, drawer, or closet or under your bed. You chose.
  2. Decide one day each week you are going to do only veggie juice from sunrise to sunset or choose 1 week during the summer to do just veggie juice.
  3. Give yourself the gift of 11 minutes each morning that you will meditate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mh-4e-xZBEs)
  4. Eliminate the clogging foods, wheat, meat, processed foods, and sugar. Add live foods which feed your brain and give you strength.
  5. Say, “I like myself, I love myself, and I see my soul to yourself all day.” See what happens.

Becoming the Beloved is Sexy

We speak of  “The Beloved” as if was God removed from us. We speak of “The Beloved “as if it is only one specific person. We speak of “The Beloved” as if it is separate. The Beloved is the reverence that can link us to everything. I had someone tweet me that they would buy my book, A Slice of the Beloved when I found them a beloved. It made me laugh. I tweeted back buy it and you will find your Beloved. Why?  Because the Beloved resides in each molecule of everything, it resides deeply within you.

Yes, as I was doing the final editing of my book my Beloved appeared tis true. But that is his gift to me. He has made me much more aware of the beloved in each aspect of every moment of my life. It is not always easy to see the hand of the Beloved in mayhem and war.  Not always easy to see the eyes of the Beloved when you don’t like what is in front of you. Not always easy to hear the voice of the Beloved when you feel upset or depressed.

All I can say is keep the heart open so the Beloved can play with you. The Beloved exists in each moment. We get to unveil it or keep it unseen. The choice is ours. Remember that the telling and hearing of all voices are important. But paying attention to what is being said by the Divine.  It all takes lots of work and patience. Thus why you want to meditate and do yoga. Because the yoga of life requires a calm heart and patient mind.
