We all have some ideas about why we do things. Because that is how our parents did it or it is so NOT how they did it. Because everyone else does it that way. Because our society does it this way. Because, because, because….. only when we lose the defense are we able to look at why we do the things we do from our neutral mind.
Losing our defense is one of our greatest challenges and our greatest gifts. The flip side of our greatest challenge always unveils our greatest gift and vice versa. Stepping back many, many steps where we are disconnected from our identity of self . Where we are connected to the fact that we are not that. There is a book called I Am That written by a spiritual teacher from India, Nasaragadata. When you truly get what you aren’t you will get what you are. You can only get what you are by not being attached to either what you are or what you are not. Then in that place of neutrality you will find the essential nature of you.
We get very attached to what and who we are. We have all our identities, all our different roles, all our different positions, our power points and our lack of power positions. The mystics, the poets and madmen, (only some of them) have lost their connection to their past and found the freedom. Freedom from carrying on the same way because…. Freedom not to be ourselves but to be sublime, to be vast because that is our true nature. That is our true identity and desire.
So tell me why do you do the things you do? What do you want to do differently? What matters to you? What are you willing to let go of? What are you not willing to let go of?
I look forward to hearing from you. Deep Gratitude
