1. The Caffeine Monster
It give you that great jolt into awakedom, yes? At the same time you have given over your adrenals’ job to a substance. You are literally telling your adrenals, I don’t really need you. So you know what they do? They go to sleep and wow, they are deep sleepers and hard to wake up. When you want them to come back, you have to literally rehabilitate them. 2. The Sugar Thief
Oh the yumminess of sugar. It’s so often pretty as well as yummy. Then there is the disguised sugar that is loaded into your yummy cappuccinos, treats, snacks, soups, everything. Read the labels – it is frightening. Sugar not only makes you put on weight – lots of weight – but it does truly funky things to your liver, your nerves, your energy, your blood. Let’s just take liver real quickly. When the liver gets toxic from not being able to process all it needs to do, it backs up toxins and stores them. And you know what happens to you? You get more angry, you get more easily irritated, you have less patience. Sugar doesn’t make anyone more calm and connected. Watch a group of kids at a party after the cake and ice-cream – it’s when all the fighting happens.

Another sugar aftereffect on your beautiful nervous system is that sugar steals out of your body the minerals which are needed for metabolization. This helps in removing the protective sheath off your nerve endings called your myelin sheath and this in turn makes you feel like “a nervous wreck.” So in summation of sugar, it is like a bad lover that gets you high but drops you really hard and leaves in its aftermath, making you need more of it to feel good again. 3. Move that body
We need to move or we become like the tin man – we get old and stale and need oil. Actually you and I, too, need oil. Remember the craze for years that you didn’t want oil in your diet. You do need good oils – olive, avocado, sesame, coconut, and vary them. Use them on salads, on top of rice and quinoa dishes, add them to soups and bread – yummy oils.
